Developing artificial synapses

Frederique needed to easily identify axons and dendrites to investigate which molecules were required from each neurite for synapse initiation. Different from the clear in vivo organization of neurites in the nervous system, stem cell cultures grown on regular plates form entangled clumps. Ananda Devices enabled Frederique to obtain well-organized cultures with distinct neurites and axons over 1 mmm long in less than 1 week. Ananda Devices reproduce the in vivo environment in vitro, creating the ideal conditions for human stem cell derived neuron development.
